Sometimes you see an opportunity in the market and you need to act fast. But what if you want to invest more money than your account holds? That’s where instant deposits come in. They’re ideal for having your funds cleared fast. But if you’re a TD Ameritrade customer or you’re thinking of going with that broker, you may ask yourself: are TD Ameritrade Deposits Instant?
TD Ameritrade instant deposit: No, TD Ameritrade Deposits are not instant. It usually takes 1 to 3 hours for your funds to clear after a wire transfer if you have a domestic account and about 1 to 2 days for an international one. In this article, I’d like to show you a couple of fast ways to fund a TD Ameritrade account, how you can get close-to-instant deposits with a mobile check, and talk about some limitations.

The 2 Ways To Fund a TD Ameritrade Account as Fast As Possible

Let’s take a look at the two fastest options to fund a TD Ameritrade account and go into a bit more detail…
Wire Transfer from your Bank Account:
This is the most common way to fund a brokerage account.
When you give the order to transfer your funds, the amount will be in “pending” status which means that they haven’t been sent yet. For the transaction to be completed, you will need to wait for 1 to 3 hours after wiring.
After the transaction is complete, TD Ameritrade will allow you to immediately use it to trade any security you want.
Mobile Check:
If you want to have a near-instant deposit, you need to fund your account via a mobile check.
Your funds will be cleared within minutes and you will be able to trade most securities afterward.
Now, I said “most” because one limitation with the mobile check method is that it can take up to 4 business days till you’re able to trade stocks and options that are priced under $5 per share.
The other limitation is that you won’t be able to withdraw your money right away and it too might take up to 4 days until you are.

How Do Instant Deposits Work?
After learning how fast a domestic wire transfer and a mobile check are with TD Ameritrade, you might wonder how much faster instant deposits actually are.
Well, they’re literally instant… Your funds may not clear right away. But when the broker who supports this service is notified that you initiated a transfer, you can get to use the amount of that transfer immediately.
This happens because the broker gives you credit that you actually pay back once the transfer is complete. It’s basically like trading on margin but without suffering any interest rate.
Bottom line: td ameritrade instant deposit
As I already told you, TD Ameritrade doesn’t offer instant deposits. But with a mobile check, you can use your funds to trade within minutes, so it’s going to do the job for most traders.
If you have an international account, however, you’re completely out of luck. The fastest way to transfer money to TD Ameritrade will be a wire transfer. And this is going to take up to 4 business days to be completed.
